BJP to declare its new exec body today: Bawankule
Nagpur: Aiming to win more than 200 Assembly seats and 48 Lok Sabha seats in next year’s polls, the BJP would be announcing its new state executive on Wednesday, reports Vaibhav Ganjapure.
The development was delayed by almost nine months after the party’s Maharashtra chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule took over the mantle from Chandrakant Patil on August 12.
Bawankule told media here that the function would be held at BJP’s main office in Mumbai where nearly 1,200 members would be present. This would include central and state leadership along with special invitees.
“Normally, the executive has a tenure of three years. However, the old panel’s tenure stretched over three and half years this time. After I took over, a rejig was expected. With the help of new and old executives, we will be getting ready for the 2024 elections. We have set a target to win over 200 assembly and all 48 Lok Sabha seats in alliance with Shiv Sena,” said Bawankule.
While announcing that the names of 288 assembly coordinators would be announced soon, Bawankule said the team of new district presidents would be ready by May end. “We have decided to complete all these organizational changes by the month end. We have also launched the Amrit Kumbh mission where we would be roping in senior activists in the age group of 60-65 years from Jan Sangh and BJP. The mission would be named after leaders Nana Saheb and Uttamrao Patil,” he said.
Terming Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray as ‘nautankibaz’, Bawankule said, “Earlier, he had suggested Barsu land for the petrochemical refinery and is now opposing it. His ‘kinchit’ (minimum) Sena is struggling to become zero. Even those sharing the stage with him during yesterday’s Vajramuth rally in Mumbai were not listening to his boring speech.”
