Coimbatore college woman stabbed to death by her lover
COIMBATORE: A 20-year-old college woman was stabbed to death by her lover in Pollachi in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as R Subalakshmi, 20, of Advani Nagar at Edayarpalayam in Coimbatore. She was doing final year B Com (IT) in a private college at Saravanampatti in Coimbatore.
Police said K Sujay, 30, of Edayarpalayam, who was working in a private firm, befriended the college student three years ago. They were in love.
Sujay married Reshma of Palakkad two years ago. He was residing with his wife in an apartment at Gowri Nagar at Mahalingapuram in Pollachi. His wife, who is pregnant, went to her parents’ home for delivery.
Sujay was alone at his apartment and he continued his relationship with the college student.
On Tuesday evening, Subalakshmi went to the apartment from Coimbatore and met Sujay. A heated argument arose between them, and Sujay stabbed the woman on her neck, chest and abdomen. He left the flat in the evening and informed his mother Gandhimathi of Edayarpalayam over the phone around 8.30 pm that he had stabbed Subalakshmi and requested his mother to inform the incident to the Mahalingapuram police.
His mother contacted the police who rushed to the apartment where they found the student in a pool of blood. The police sent the dead body to the ESI Medical College Hospital at Singanallur in Coimbatore city for postmortem.
The police registered a murder case. A special team has gone to Palakkad in Kerala to nab the murderer.
