NAGPUR: After NCP chief Sharad Pawar stepped down from the top position, party's city-based leaders have requested him to reconsider his decision in larger interest, particularly taking into consideration 2024 general and assembly elections.
Senior leader from the district and former home minister Anil Deshmukh, who was with Pawar throughout the day, told TOI that all the party leaders and workers had unanimously demanded him to review his decision. "We went to his home to appeal to him to take back his decision. He is a national leader and has credibility and unmatched experience. His presence would benefit the party in a big way. Not only Maharashtra, but the country needs him," he said.
NCP OBC cell's state president Ishwar Balbudhe said Pawar should continue to head the party till 2024 Lok Sabha and assembly polls. "We all at NCP need your guidance. You must withdraw your decision by taking appeals from all your leaders and party workers," he said.
