Kolhapur cops bust 5 illicit liquor dens

KOLHAPUR: The local crime branch busted five illicit liquor dens in Mangaonwadi, Hatkanangle tehsil, and seized hooch and other material worth Rs 5.08 lakh in a special drive against illegal activities in the district.
The police registered a case against five den operators.
Crime branch inspector Mahadev Waghmode said, “A team of about 44 police personnel carried surprise raids and took action against five illicit liquor-producing dens near a stream in Mangaonwadi village in Hatkanangle.”
He added, “The authorities have launched a campaign against illegal businesses in the district. We seized 8,520 litres of raw chemicals, 2,940 litres of illicit liquor and other materials worth Rs 5.08 lakh from the raids. Further investigation is on.”
