Thiruvananthapuram: State information commission (SIO) K L Vivekanandan has slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 each on two information officers (IO) who have failed to provide correct and time-bound reply under RTI Act.
S D Rajesh of Kochi corporation Fort Kochi zonal office and Imamin Mubeen of Greater Cochin Development Authority were fined for their shoddy work.
Rajesh was fined for not giving a correct reply to an RTI application filed by secretary of Swashraya Mattancherry K Prabhakaran on August 6, 2016.
Prabhakaran had sought details on action taken by the corporation against those who vandalize public properties under the civic body and documentary evidence for the actions taken by the zonal office.
Mubeen was fined for giving inaccurate and incomplete answers to an RTI application filed by Kochi Kadavanthra native Cheshire Tarson on February 10, 2017. The applicant had sought details of GCDA giving its land to a private individual for running a rotary club at Panampilly Nagar and felling of trees on the said plot. Both the officers have remitted the fine and produced the receipt at the state information commissioner's office. tnn
