A 21-year-old man was arrested and a 17-year-old boy detained after a video of a popular stage artiste from Maharashtra changing her clothes went viral on Instagram.

An FIR was registered by the stage artist at Vimantal police station in Pune in February last week after a video of her changing her clothes before a performance was posted from an Instagram account fraudulently created in her name.
The video was further widely circulated on the platform through other accounts.

Senior inspector at Vimantal police station Vilas Sonde said, “After analysing technical data, we zeroed in on two suspects. On Wednesday morning, we detained a 17-year-old boy from Ahmednagar district and a 21-year-old man, identified as Ayush Amrut Kanase.”

The officer added Ayush is studying in a college in Satara district.

“Probe suggests that the minor suspect shot the video and posted it on a fake Instagram account made in the name of the complainant. Ayush further circulated the video on the social networking platform,” added Sonde.
