Jaipur: Amidst the ongoing turf war between chief minister Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot, former leader of the Opposition and chairman of
Rajasthan Agro Industries Development Board Rameshwar Dudi has queered the pitch with the demand for a Jat CM and caste census.
Dudi said he had raised the demand of Jat CM in Jat Mahakumbh held in March this year and he is still firm on his demand. He said this is the demand of the community.
Smarting after a huge kisan sammlean in Noha in Bikaner recently, Dudi said that Jats are the largest caste groups and a Jat CM is a long-standing demand of the community. I had raised this demand with Congress leaders as well, he said.
Dudi also demanded to conduct caste census. “You get the caste census done. Along with Jat CM, our demand is also for a caste census. After the caste census, we know the numbers. Jat is the largest community and demand for CM is also accepted by other communities as well,” he claimed.
Recently Ghelot also expressed his support for a caste census.
The Congress leader had raised the demand of Jat CM in the Jat Mahakumbh held on March 5 at Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur. Now, Dudi is again trying to fuel the demand for Jat CM surprised many.
Dudi tried to show his strength last week by organising a kisan sammelan near Nokha in Bikaner district. The meeting was attended by the who's who in the state Congress including chief minister Ashok Ghelot, party in-charge SS Randhawa, PCC president Govind Singh Dotasra and ministers and MLAs. However, Pilot was conspicuous by his absence. Dudi once in the anti-Gehlot camp is coming closer to Gehlot recently.
The political observers see the demand for a Jat CM by Dudi is a diversionary tactic by the Gehlot camp. Sachin Pilot and his supporters have been demanding that Pilot be made the CM.
The demand for a Jat CM in Congress suits Pilot's opponents, especially the Gehlot camp. The demand for a Jat CM is being seen as a counter-strategy by the Gehlot camp to stop Pilot and balance him politically.
