NASA retain, DKM regain dist basketball titles
Nagpur: Hosts Nagpur Amateur Sports Association (NASA) boys successfully defended the sub-junior basketball crown as Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM) girls regained the district title in contrasting fashion at the Surendra Nagar courts on Monday.
In an exciting boys summit clash, NASA utilized their home court advantage well to defeat DKM marginally by two points (40-38) with Sarvesh Kavishwar (20) and Dheer Agrawal (13) scoring timely baskets from the paint. The game-high 22-point effort from DKM’s Om Raut went in vain as Varad Gautam chipped in with 12 points.
In contrast the girls’ final was a one-sided affair where DKM defeated Spartan 34-21 to emerge champions after two years. For the winners, Pranjal Urkude (11) and Ritika Vasade (7) played well in tandem. Saprtan’s forward Neharika Deoghare did well for her 15 points.

GIRLS: DKM (Pranjal Urkude 11, Ritika Vasade 7) bt Spartan (Neharika Deoghare 15) 34-21 (4-5, 6-2, 8-5, 16-9);
BOYS: NASA (Sarvesh Kavishwar 20, Dheer Agrawal 13) bt DKM (Om Raut 22, Varad Gautam 12) 40-38 (14-13, 12-10, 4-6, 10-9)
District Youth basketball
championship from today
Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA) will conduct the Youth (U-16) district basketball championship at the NBYS courts in Bajaj Nagar from Wednesday. From this selection tournament the 12-member boys and girls teams of Nagpur district will be selected for the forthcoming Maharashtra State Basketball Tournament.
In the Nagpur district tournament, a total of 34 teams including 20 boys and 14 girls are participating. A total of 408 players will be seen in action during the tournament which will be played in the league cum knockout basis.
A total of 60 matches will be played in the six-day tournament.
