Undertrial inmate at Yerawada central prison attacked with sharp piece of tin, four booked

Officers of the Yerawada police station said the incident took place inside the prison on Tuesday near the main gate of the Tilak Yard.

A 32-year-old undertrial at the Yerawada Central Prison suffered a severe injury on the head after he was attacked with a sharp piece of tin sheet during a fight among the inmates over an old dispute.

The incident took place on May 2 afternoon near the main gate of Tilak yard of the Yerawada Central Prison. The injured inmate — identified as Suresh Baliram Dayalu (32) — suffered a cut injury on the head and required stitches, said a police officer.

Based on a complaint by a prison officer, an FIR was registered, and undertrial inmates Aslam Mujavar, Siddharth Yampure, Ajay Paigude, and Saurabh Sabale were booked on the charges of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
