Karnataka polls: Vijai hits out at BJP over Mhadei
Margao: Goa Forward Party (GFP) president and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai once again hit out at the BJP leadership in Goa accusing it of conniving with the Karnataka government to “sell off mother Mhadei.”
Ahead of the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka, BJP in its manifesto has assured to complete the disputed irrigation project at Kalasa-Bhandura.
“Another nail in BJP Goa’s and Pramod Sawant’s COFFIN OF LIES! BJP Karnataka’s election manifesto is yet another proof of #Goa #BJP leaders’ active participation in selling off #MotherMhadei,” Vijai said in a tweet. “While these betrayers hop from village to village in Karnataka, they can’t find their voice to speak for Mhadei, but can shout on top of their voices to seek votes for Basavaraj Bommai, who has the CMO Goa dancing to his tunes,” he said.
BJP leaders from Goa, including ministers have joined the party’s election campaign in Karnataka.
In its election manifesto, Karnataka BJP has promised to complete all major pending irrigation projects like Upper Bhadra, Upper Krishna and Kalasa Bhandura in a time-bound manner ensuring 100% coverage of all existing lift irrigation projects with field irrigation channels.
Karnataka Congress has also followed suit with the party announcing in its election manifesto of allocating Rs 1.5 lakh crore for irrigation in the next five years, which would include funding for disputed irrigation projects such as Mhadei and Mekedatu. The party also has also promised to allocate Rs 500 crore to Mhadei project in the first cabinet meeting.
