3rd rain death in Hyderabad: 9-yr-old boy slips into pit in Jubilee Hills, dies

HYDERABAD: Within days of nine-year-old Mounika getting washed away in a drain in Secunderabad's Kalsiguda following torrential rains in the city, a six-year-old boy met with a similar fate after he fell into a pit on a vacant land in Jubilee Hills on Tuesday.
Police said, the boy, Vivek, was playing near the pit filled with rainwater near a construction site when the incident happened. Vivek accidentally fell into the pit when he tried to take a stick out from it.
His friends rushed to inform his parents and by the time they could take him out of the pit, Vivek died. Police reached the spot and sent the body to a government hospital for post-mortem. The boy's father, is a watchman.
Police said the boy's father, B Shankar, is a watchm-an at a showroom near the vacant land. Shankar and his family live in a tenement within the showroom premises.
Mounika lost her life after she slipped and fell into a ditch at Kalasiguda. Two days ago, Greyhounds constable Veera Swamy was electrocuted at Jubilee Hills.
