MANGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his election campaign at Kolnad in Mulki on Wednesday hit hard at the Congress party.
The Bajrang Dal ban proposal also hogged the limelight at the PM's event.
The
Congress manifesto that proposes a ban on Bajrang Dal in Karnataka added new direction to the BJP's election campaign. For instance, Modi began his speech at Mulki with the slogan ‘Bajrangbali ki jai’. He also concluded the speech by appealing to the gathering to shout ‘Bajrangbali ki jai’ thrice.
Addressing a large gathering, he said, “Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are known for toppers in education. We want to make Karnataka number one in the development of all fields including agriculture, education, fisheries and ports. But what does the Congress want to do? They want to make Karnataka the number one ATM for its royal family in Delhi. The Congress, which is eating 85% commission in each scheme, will take Karnataka’s development in reverse gear. Hence, people of Karnataka should be careful about the Congress and the JD(S). The ‘Sankalp’ of BJP is to make Karnataka number one and develop modern infrastructure, make the state manufacturing superpower. This is the roadmap for the coming years. But the Congress wants your vote because one of their leaders is retiring,” he said.
The PM stressed on: “ee bariya nirdhara bahumathada BJP sarkara”. Modi said Congress is the enemy of peace and development and it is following the policy of appeasement. Appeasement is the only identity of Congress. The states that want development are wiping out Congress. He criticised the Congress for insulting the soldiers and defence force.
The double-engine government has brought schemes for the empowerment of women. The public is aware of the G-20, whose main agenda is women-led development. The BJP created a separate ministry for fishermen. The PM Matsya Sampada Yojana and Matsya Siri Yojana of the state government were introduced for the benefit of the fishermen.
"We are committed to the welfare of fishermen and their families. Till 2014, inland fisheries and aquaculture production was 60 lakh tonne. In the past nine years, since the Modi- led government has been in power, the production has increased to more than 120 lakh tonnes,” he said.
On the start-up revolution in Karnataka, Modi said that the doors of the space sector have been opened to private players. The youth of Karnataka have been making rockets and satellites. HAL has recorded the highest profit, which was possible because the BJP works honestly for the nation. A wave of innovation will be created in the nation, he said.
"The Indian economy has reached the fifth place in the world. We have overtaken England to reach fifth place. We want to reach the third place, for which I need the support of the people of Karnataka. “Without the people of Karnataka, I cannot go forward. Hence, the May 10 election will decide the future,” he said.
He urged the public to take out their phones and switch on the flashlight “Go to every house and tell them that Modi has come all the way from Delhi to Mulki. Tell them that Modi has sent you a ‘pranam’. Will you send my regards to every house? Then all will bless me, and my energy will increase and help me work more,” Modi said.
