Unauthorised sports club sealed in Trichy
TRICHY: An unauthorised sports club functioning in ward 11 falling under zone V in Trichy city was locked and sealed by Trichy Corporation officials on Wednesday. Officials said the training facility lacked building plan approval and was undergoing expansion.
M Ravichandran owned the training centre sprawling over 5,000 square feet in Annamalai Nagar. An iron shed was installed and boundaries were fenced to provide sports training including for school children on an artificial turf ground.
On finding that the sports club did not have a valid building plan approval, the corporation sent a legal notice around three months ago directing its management to regularise the property.
“A month ago, a lock and seal notice was issued to the owner to dismantle the sports club. The management delayed obtaining the building plan approval,” an official said.
As construction work continued, the corporation’s town planning and engineering department invoked sections 56 and 57 of the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act 1971 to lock and seal the unauthorised building.
