Extortion case: Yuvrajsinh sent to judicial custody
Rajkot: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, who is accused of extorting money from those accused in the dummy candidate racket was sent to judicial custody by a local court in Bhavnagar on Monday.
Jadeja was produced in court after his extended police custody ended on Monday. As the cops did not seek further remand, the court sent Jadeja to judicial custody. His brother-in-law Kanbha Gohil, who is also one of the accused in the extortion case, too was sent to judicial custody.
Jadeja in a brief talk with media persons outside the courtroom said, “This is a coma and not a full stop. The fight for the students will continue in the coming days.”
He urged the students to have faith in him. When asked if he had named heavyweight politicians for their alleged involvement in the dummy candidate racket, Jadeja answered in the affirmative.
Jadeja is accused of extorting Rs 1 crore from two prime accused in the dummy candidate racket for not making their names public at a press conference. The police have recovered a total of Rs 72.50 lakh from the accused.
