UPPSC to help candidates flunking PCSinterviews find jobs in private sector
Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) will now work on grooming the future of the candidates who had cleared the Provincial Civil Service mains examination but failed to clear the interview stage.
This initiative of the commission would help these candidates seek employment opportunities in the private sector, commission officials said.

Every year, lakhs of candidates apply for the coveted exam of PCS and after clearing the prelims, mains and lastly the interviews, only a few finally get jobs.
However, clearing the mains and qualifying for interview is also considered exceptional in terms of potential of the candidates.
There are many who in their pursuit of becoming a PCS officer, reach the threshold of being overage.
The commission has decided to first take the consent of the candidates, after which their certified data would be prepared. The data would mention the name and phone number of the candidates along with their academic details.
It would be put on the commission’s website, so that private agencies can invite such meritorious people for jobs, UPPSC officials said.
Commission sources told TOI said that work has been started on this system and candidates are being contacted.
“Since private agencies are in need of hiring capable candidates, the step would prove a milestone in bridging the gap between demand and supply. The commission will contact the agencies to fulfil the task.
Along with this, cooperation will also be taken from the state government to prepare private agencies to hire the potential candidates as per the requirement of the respective industry or agency, as the case may be,” the sources added.
“The commission believes that the candidates who are completing the journey till the interview in the most prestigious examination of the state, are quite capable. Since only a few are successful in this tough three-layered examination, this initiative will serve two purposes. One this will prevent students going into depression by giving them jobs and will also serve the requirement of the industry”, said a senior official of UPPSC. The commission is preparing to include a column related to obtaining consent from the candidates in the application for the mains examination in the upcoming PCS recruitment drive itself.
If a candidate, going to appear in the mains examination, wants his/her name and roll number to be included in the authenticated data, he/she will have to fill the consent column in the application.
Sources further informed TOI that after the implementation of this new system in PCS, candidates of other recruitment exams — wherein the selection is done on the basis of written examination and interview — may also be included in it.
These exams include recruitments like Combined State Engineering Service Exam, State Agricultural Service, PCSJ, etc.
