'Contract killer' wanted in Delhi murder cases, held in Meerut

MEERUT: A "contract killer" in his early 20s, who is a resident of Delhi's Mukundpur part-1 area, was arrested from Meerut following a brief encounter with a unit of Meerut police and a team of Delhi's special cell on Sunday.
SHO of Kankarkhera, Neeraj Malik, said, "Ranjeet Jha is a contract killer and is wanted in two murders and an 'attempt to murder' case in Delhi. He had been evading arrest since his bail on parole in a murder case in 2019. As per the Delhi police, the cops were trying to arrest him as he didn't surrender himself before a court once the parole expired."
Sharing the details, SP (City) Meerut, Piyush Kumar, told TOI on Monday, "Delhi-based gangster Mukesh alias Bona had hired Jha to kill his rival Sonu Dubey over a property dispute. Jha had shot five rounds at Dubey, leaving him severely injured, and then he fled the area."
