MANGALURU: The
BJP government at the Centre wants to bring the cooperative sector completely under its control, alleged Congress Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh. Speaking to reporters here on on Monday he said, “The BJP government has formed a separate Union ministry for cooperation under Home Minister Amit Shah. The main purpose of setting up a separate ministry was to take control of the cooperative societies, especially in Karnataka. Earlier, there was a ministry of agriculture and cooperation, now it is the ministry of home and cooperation. What is the connection between home and cooperation ministries? They want all cooperative societies under their control.”
He said that the manifesto released by BJP national president JP Nadda is ‘Loot Jhoot Manifesto’.
On the promise of three free LPG cylinders for each family, Ramesh said the BJP had made this promise before the assembly election in Uttar Pradesh too. However, the promise has not been fulfilled yet.
“The Congress has fulfilled the promises it made in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. People in
Rajasthan are offered free treatment worth Rs 25 lakh. BJP leaders repeatedly speak about double-engine government. It is irrelevant when it comes to Karnataka, where 94% of the revenue generated for the state are its own or its share of central taxes. The main engine of Karnataka is in Bengaluru itself. Karnataka does not depend on Delhi when it comes to development,” he said.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks about national issues during election in Karnataka, Congress speaks about problems of the people and local issues, he said. “Modi has said that JD(S) is the B Team of the Congress. However, AAP, AIMIM and SDPI have been functioning as the first, second and third B Teams of the BJP, respectively. Similarly, BJP has secret relation with JD(S) too,” he alleged.
