Udhayanidhi Stalin launches installation of QR codes at statues, memorials
The first QR code was installed at the Thiruvalluvar statue on the Kamarajar Salai in Chennai.
CHENNAI: Sports minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday launched an initiative to install QR codes at all the statues and memorials in Tamil Nadu.
The first QR code was installed at the Thiruvalluvar statue on the Kamarajar Salai in Chennai.
The process of uploading 360 degree photos of the memorials and statues on the www.tndipr.com website was also launched.
Officials said that QR codes would be installed at all the statues and memorials maintained by the department of information and public relations. People visiting the memorials and statues can scan the QR codes to get information on them.
"Earlier, stone tablets were placed near the statues and memorials with minimal information about them. But now the QR codes can not only save space but also provide more information to the public. By scanning the QR codes, the public can not just read the information on the website but can also have access photos showing 360 degree of the memorials and the statues," said the officials.
Work on installing the QR codes and uploading the 360 degree photos would be completed in another two months, the officials added.
