BHIWANDI: When 32-year-old Ashok Mishra's body was pulled out early on Monday from the debris of the collapsed commercial-residential building in Bhiwandi, his elder brother's worst fear came true. And the first thought was how would be inform Mishra's wife, who is five months pregnant with their second child.
Mataprasad Mishra said as he had feared, once news reached Seema, who had gone to their village in UP's Siddharth Nagar with their two-year-old daughter for better care, she went into trauma. She had been crying and praying since Saturday when it was learnt that Ashok was one of the workers trapped in the debris.
Seema had insisted on returning to the city to bid a final farewell to Ashok, but his friends requested her not to come as the body was crushed. The family planned to perform the last rites by evening.
The other body recovered on Monday was of Dinesh Tiwari, 34, whose parents had died in childhood. He is survived by a homemaker wife and three children. Tiwari was a resident of the village next to that of Mishra in Siddharth Nagar in UP. On Saturday, when Mishra's family informed Tiwari's wife about the collapse, she boarded a train and reached Bhiwandi on Sunday.
His surviving friends are demanding that the state government provide some financial help to his family to secure the future of the three children. CM Eknath Shinde has already announced Rs 5 lakh for families of each of the dead.
