Missing woman’s father writes to PM for help
Ludhiana: Worried about his missing daughter, 23, who is untraceable since September 8, 2022, a Ludhiana-based man on Monday written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek help. The father of the missing girl claimed it to be a case of ‘love jihad’ and suspected that the accused, who eloped with his daughter, could harm her.
The Sahnewal police had lodged an FIR in this matter under Sections 346 (wrongful confinement in secret) of the IPC on October 1. The father of the missing girl claimed that the mobile of the accused was active for about a month, despite that the police could not trace them.
Joginder Kumar, a factory worker from Lohara, said in September 2022, a man started living at his house as a tenant who introduced himself as Shaan Kumar (originally Shaam Mohammad) of Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki area. On September 8, 2022, Shaan escaped with his daughter Sadhna. He lodged a police complaint, but the police initially did nothing to trace her, Joginder claimed.
Joginder took help of a social worker who arranged a call detail report (CDR) of the accused and found that Shaan was in continuous touch with three people in UP.
The father in his letter said he suspected involvement of the trio in helping and sheltering Shaan and wanted the police to interrogate them.
He said, “I know my daughter is an adult and if she wants to live with someone happily, I have no issues with it. However, I am concerned for her safety as since September 8, she has not contacted us even once. I am worried that my daughter Sadhna does not get a fate like Shraddha Walker, who was murdered by her boyfriend in Delhi. I have been requesting the local police to at least question the trio who have been in touch with Shaan and get to know the whereabouts of Sadhna, but not efforts have been made. Therefore, he decided to write to the PM for help.”
ASI Raghbir Singh, investigating officer of the case, said, “The family of the missing girl has already approached Punjab & Haryana high court. The allegations are wrong that the police made no efforts to trace the accused. The police teams have conducted raids twice to trace Shaan Mohammad, but could not find him. Now, the HC has asked us to get Shaan’s photos published in newspapers and social media. We are getting it done.”
