JAMMU: J&K Police on Monday claimed to have busted a terrorist hideout in the forest area of Khari, a remote village in Ramban district, and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition.
“Information was received through reliable sources regarding the presence of a cache of arms and ammunition in the far-flung hilly and forested area of Khari tehsil in Ramban. Acting on the input, a joint team of police and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Banihal Police launched a search operation in the Burzallaa-Khari forest area and suspected locations were raided during which the terrorist hideout was busted,” a police spokesperson said.
The seizure included two IED-type with wire, 17 AK-47 cartilages, seven 9mm cartilages, two rifle grenades, one UBGL thrower/launcher, a wireless set having antenna without battery, a detonator-type with wire, one glass bottle containing a glycerine-type liquid, along with a khakhee jacket and a pair of black leather shoes, the spokesperson added.
A case was registered in this connection at Banihal police station under the Explosive Substances Act, and an investigation was launched, police said.
