CAN DISTINGUISHED professionals and alumni of Armed Forces Medical College in India and abroad be part of the visiting faculty at top educational institutions of the armed forces was among the key points of a panel discussion held at the AFMC, Pune, on Sunday.
The prestigious institution is celebrating its platinum jubilee and several alumni were present on the college campus. AFMC arranged a panel discussion on Sunday to plan for the next 25 years and ensure rapid progress aligning the college’s growth to national priorities and harnessing the strength of renowned alumni in India and abroad.
Speaking with The Indian Express, Lt Gen Madhuri Kanitkar (Retd) Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, who has been closely associated with AFMC for 40 years now – from a student, faculty member, head of the paediatric nephrology department to becoming the first woman dean of her alma mater, said the medical college has renowned alumni across the world and engaging them towards academic pursuits and interactions with students here would be a step forward in introducing real-world experiences in the classroom.
Flag hoisting ceremony today
As part of AFMC’s celebrations for completing 75 years, a flag-hoisting ceremony is being organized at the college campus on May 1. Lt Gen Daljit Singh, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) will be hoisting the flag.
