In Mumbai, Mira Road man held for selling 10gm ganja used to frame actor
Chrisann Pereira
MUMBAI: In a fresh development in the case of planting of drugs on actor Chrisann Pereira and four others allegedly by Paul Anthony and his accomplice Rajesh Bhobhate alias Ravi, the city crime branch on Saturday arrested a drug peddler from Mira Road.
Based on information provided by Paul, a police team arrested Shantilal Rajput who had allegedly supplied 10 gm of ganja to Paul for Rs 5,000. The arrest of the drug supplier assumes significance in the case as the police will be able to establish the entire sequence of events and corroborate Paul's plot to frame his five rivals in drug cases.
"This will also benefit Clayton Rodrigues who has been in jail in Sharjahsince his arrest on February 6 for carrying a cake laced with drugs," said a senior police officer.
Police said they have picked up Rajput and are verifying his background whether he has been involved in any previous cases . He will be produced in a court on Sunday.
The crime branch had on Monday arrested Paul and Bhobhate for allegedly orchestrating a fake audition for a web series in Sharjah, and planting drugs on Chrisann.
