Vehicles to be diverted on one flank at Jaipur's Laxmi Mandir Tiraha
JDA will stop the Tonk Phatak-bound flank of Tonk Road from somewhere before the compound of the Nehru Bal Udayan up to the tiraha
JAIPUR: Expect minor snarls at the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha on Tonk Road from Sunday as traffic on Tonk Road would ply only on the north-bound flank for a stretch of 500-700 metre to facilitate the construction of the underpass as a part of the signal-free traffic project.
Officials of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) would stop the Tonk Phatak-bound flank of Tonk Road from somewhere before the compound of the Nehru Bal Udayan up to the tiraha.
It means, vehicles coming from the northern side and heading towards the tiraha had to take opposite flank from the diversion point to reach the crossing. Meanwhile, traffic on the northern flank, heading towards Rambagh Circle will also ply on the same flank.
“We would stop the flank right adjacent to the Nehru Bal Udayan till the crossing and would allow traffic on both directions to ply on the same flank, meant for the Rambagh Circle bound traffic. The flank is wide enough to handle traffic on both directions. Hopefully, there won’t be any major problems,” said Vikram Singh the executive engineer of JDA, in-charge of the project.
Earlier JDA had stopped sides of both the flanks and allowed traffic on both sides through the middle of the Tonk Road. “We are constructing the concretes on Nehru Bal Udyan side of Tonk Road. Hence, we had to stop the flank. It may take around 10-15 days to restore normalcy,” added Singh.
JDA is constructing an underpass that would connect Sahakar Marg from the lane in between road to Police headquarters and Lal Kothi Sabji Mandir. The underpass would reach Tonk Road below this lane and would take a right turn to connect Tonk Road adjacent to the Nehru Bal Udayan.
Once the underpass is completed JDA would stop right turn towards Tonk Phatak Puliya/Gandhinagar Railway/ Bajaj Nagar from Sahakar Marg at the tiraha. Vehicles need to take the under pass to reach the Nehru Bal Udayan and from their head straight to cross the tiraha.
On the other hand vehicles from Tonk Road, intending to take a right turn towards Sahakar Marg from the tiraha, need to head straight to the road adjacent to Puliya, take a u-turn through the underpass.
Once these vehicles again reach the tiraha, these vehicles need to take a left turn towards Sahakar Marg.
