MVA panel wins all seats in Amravati

AMRAVATI: The Sahakar panel, led by Congress MLA Yashomati Thakur, won all the 18 seats of the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC), Amravati, here on Saturday. The result is a big setback for the Shetkari panel, led by MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana. Ravi Rana's brother Sunil too faced defeat in the polls.
While Yashomati Thakur, Congress district president Bablu Deshmukh, Preeti Band of Shivsena (UBT), and Sunil Warhade of NCP led the Sahakar panel, the Shetkari panel was spearheaded by the Rana couple, cooperatives leader Vilas Mahalle, BJP's Nivedita Chaudhari, and former ZP member of Congress Prakash Sable.
The victorious candidates of Sahakar panel included Santosh Ingole, Kishor Changole, Ashutosh Deshmukh, Nana Nagmote, Bhayyasaheb Nirmal, Pratap Bhuyar, Harish More, Rekha Kokate, Alka Deshmukh, Prakash Kalbande, Satish Gote, Pravin Alaspure, Shrikant Bonde, Ram Kharbade and Milind Tayde.
Besides Amravati, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) also dominated the elections at five other APMCs in the district.
In Chandur Railway, it won 17 of the 18 seats under the leadership of Virendra Jagtap while the lone seat went to BJP MLA Pratap Adsad led Shetkari panel.
In Anjangaon Surji, MVA's Sahakar panel, led by Anant Sable, bagged 17 seats while its main rival, Parivartan panel got just one seat. In Nandgaon Khandeshwar, Sahakar panel bagged 11 seats while Parivartan Sahakar panel got five. Two seats went to independents. The Shetkari Ekta panel led by MLA Pratap Adsad drew a blank here.
In Morshi, Thakur, Harshawardhan Deshmukh, and MLA Devendra Bhuyar led Pragati panel won ten seats while MP Anil Bonde's Kashtakari panel got five seats. In Teosa, Yashomati Thakur led panel won all the 18 seats.
Reacting to the result, Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Rana couple, and said that the voters taught a lesson to those who misused Hanuman Chalisa.
