Man wounded twice by gunshots in Hell’s Kitchen, blocks from Times Square

A man was wounded when gunfire erupted just two blocks from Times Square on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The shooting occurred at Ninth Ave. and W. 46th St. in Hell’s Kitchen at around 5:45 p.m.

Bullets hit the 28-year-old victim in the shoulder and in the hip, cops said.

The wounded man made his own way to Mt. Sinai West Hospital. He was expected to survive his injuries, cops said.

The suspect took off and remained at large on Saturday night.

During their investigation, police taped off an area around a cannabis shop.

The shooting occurred in the Midtown North precinct, where between Jan. 1 and April 16 police reported two shootings — down from three shootings reported in the same period of 2022.

Crime in seven major categories is down 3% in the precinct so far in 2023, police data shows. But felony assaults are up 14% and grand larcenies are up 5%, police say.
