Hubballi: Two first-time voters who qualified for the state assembly election have started a drive to create voter awareness in twin cities on their decked motorcycle.
Artist Manjunath Hiremath’s sons Lohith and Kantesha Hiremath will tour to create voter awareness. They aim for 100 per cent voting in the upcoming state assembly election. Both young voters' awareness campaign is grabbing people’s attention.
Lohith Hiremath is studying Bachelor of visual arts at the Government college of fine arts, Dharwad. Kantesha Hiremath studies II PUC at Nidavani Arts and Commerce College, Dharwad. Earlier, their father Manjunath Hiremath created awareness during elections. Inspired by their father, both decided to create awareness and try to increase the voting percentage. Both are urging young voters not to miss the voting opportunity in the state assembly election on May 10. They travel to colleges, paying guest facilities and other places frequented by youths.
Lohith Hiremath told STOI that they were creating awareness for the first time. The idea of creating awareness on a decorated motorcycle was inspired by our Father. We have a model of the EVM machine and placards with slogans that encourage voters to vote. People have started taking selfies with our bike and posting them on social media,” he added.
He said they stressed that first-time voters should not miss the opportunity to vote. “So we have decided to reach a large number of first-time voters in the twin cities. We will try to educate most of them and ask them to vote. We expect voter participation to reach 100%, he added.
