Mumbai widow loses Rs 85 lakh to 'policy claim' fraud

MUMBAI: A 76-year-old woman from Colaba has lodged a police complaint stating that she was duped online of Rs 85 lakh. The elderly woman received calls from two women who asked her to claim maturity proceeds of her deceased husband's insurance policy.
Initially, a woman claiming to be calling from an insurance company about her husband's policy maturity convinced the elderly woman to pay small amounts for various charges.
After woman called, the victim told her bank to move Rs 25 lakh to a certain account.
