Bhiwandi Building Collapse Live Updates: One more body recovered, death toll rises to 4; search and relief operations under way

The body of a man was recovered on Sunday from the debris of a two-storey building which collapsed in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra's Thane district, taking the toll to four, an official said. Fifteen people were still feared trapped, Thane Municipal Corporation's Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) chief Avinash Sawant said.Twelve people were injured after the structure collapsed like a pack of cards at 1.45 pm on Saturday at Wardhaman Compound in Valpada area, officials said.

So far 4 people have died and 12 have been evacuated safely in the building accident, out of which 7 people who have minor injuries are being treated in the hospital.

Rescue operations are under way since last 19 hours after a 3-storey building collapsed in Bhiwandi, Thane. Teams of Fire Brigade, Police, TDRF & NDRF are present on spot to rescue people trapped in debris. More than 7 people are likely to be trapped, 14 people have been rescued & 3 have died.

The vehicular movement on the Pune-Mumbai expressway was disrupted owing to the long weekend on Saturday. Long queues of vehicles, some extended up to 10 kms, were seen in the ghat section as well as at Lonavla.Motorists heading towards Pune from Mumbai, took around two hours to exit the Khandala ghat section, police said.According to the highway safety patrol (HSP), Pune officials, the motorists from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai joined the expressway to reach their destinations of Lonavla Khandala and Mahabaleshwar. A large number of cars, SUVs and mini buses came onto the road after 8am which led to the major traffic jam.

In the rest of the areas, including parts of Madhya Maharashtra, there is an equal chance of the day temperatures falling in any of the three categories — belownormal, normal or above-normal, as per the white colour depicted on the tercile probability maximum temperature forecast map in the outlook.
