LUDHIANA: The Gyaspura
gas tragedy claimed the lives of 11 people, with three families residing in the vicinity losing 10 members.
According to authorities, Kavilash from Sua Road in Gyaspura locality, who was running a clinic, died, along with his wife Varsha (35) and their three children — Kalpana (16), Abhay (13), and Aryan (10). The family originally belonged to Gaya in Bihar but were settled in Punjab for the last 30 years.

The officials said that the second family comprised of Sourav Goyal (35) of Lal chakki road in Gyaspura was running Goyal Karyana store.
“Sourav passed away along with his wife Preety (31) and mother Kamlesh Goyal (60), while his brother Gaurav (50) is ill and receiving treatment at Civil hospital. The family has lived in Punjab for the past 20 to 22 years, though they were originally from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh,” they added.
The third household affected by the incident was that of Navneet Kumar, a 39-year-old resident living near the mosque in Samrat Colony of Gyaspura. Navneet worked as an accountant at a steel company located on Vishwakarma Chowk. Tragically, both Navneet and his wife Neetu Devi, 37, lost their lives in the incident. Navneet's brother Nitin Kumar, 40, who is employed at Tata Company in Bikaner, was also present and is currently receiving medical treatment at Civil Hospital.
According to the officials, both brothers have lived in Ludhiana for the past 20 years while their father and mother reside in Patna, the capital of Bihar.
“A body of a 25-year-old male is yet to be identified,” they added.
