Air transportation and tourism are inseparably linked to each other. In the same way, rail, road and air connectivity is straightawayconnected to tourism. Not only domestic but tourists worldwide also yearn for decent connectivity, so that they can reach their favoured placessecurely.
The Himachal government is dedicated to reinforce air connectivity in the state and improve heliports at Rampur, Kanganidhar in Mandi,Baddi and SASE (Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment) inManali. This is expected to propel tourism expansion in these areas, since high-end tourists can directly reach these places and take pleasure in the tranquilprettiness of these places.
Likewise, heli-taxi facilities will be functionalshortly from Sanjauli in Shimla and Baddi heliports. Besides, heliports will be built and advanced in Hamirpur, Chamba,Lahaul and Spiti, Kullu,Kinnaur,Kangra and Una district to make sure that these places staylinkedto air transport all through the year. The Himachal government has brought in a funding of Rs. 30 crore for building and developing these heliports throughout the current fiscal year.
In addition tobuilding of heliports, the Himachal government is also thinking to build an international airport at Mandi, along withspreading out of the Kangra Airport. The Social Impact Assessment (SIA) review of Mandi Airport has beendone. The acquirementprocedurewill start after this.
