Bus kills cyclist as driver falls asleep

Ludhiana: A cyclist was killed and three others were injured after a bus carrying devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir met with an accident in Doraha on Friday morning.
Police officials said there were 19 pilgrims on the bus, which was on its way from Katra to Delhi when the driver allegedly fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle near Doraha. They added that the bus then hit a cyclist, identified as Inderjit Singh of Doraha who was returning home after night shift in a factory, and then rolled over. In the accident, three passengers of the bus also received minor injuries and were provided first aid. They added that driver of the bus fled the spot.
Payal DSP Harsimrat Singh said the bus driver has been booked for causing death due to negligence.
