JAIPUR: Teachers and principals from 402 schools selected from the state under the PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme, which will be developed as model schools under National Education Policy (NEP), said that these schools must have teachers on all the sanctioned posts.
On Friday, the state education department held an inaugural workshop for principals from these schools to explain about the initiative.
Rajasthan has the maximum number of schools in the country, selected under this initiative, where schools will be upgraded and Rs 2 crore of fund will be given to each school. Of this
budget, 30% of the amount can be spent on civil works and 40% of the amount on project innovation.
“We understand the responsibility that comes with our schools being selected under this initiative, but teachers’ post should not remain vacant in these schools. Appointment of teachers should be done on all the posts approved for each of these schools,” said Kailash Rawal, a participant from Udaipur district.
Education minister B.D. Kalla, chief guest for the program while addressing the session, called for continuous efforts to develop government schools of the state as 'knowledge centres'.
“Teachers should make full use of their experience and build such an environment where the process of education becomes a joyful experience for students. The selection of 402 government schools of the state in the first phase of PM SHRI scheme is a major achievement. All these schools should provide leadership to the schools around them by becoming model schools. There is a need for continuous efforts to increase the enrolment and reduce dropout rate and work towards making government schools green schools,” said Kalla.
In the workshop, principals of PM SHRI schools and additional district project coordinators along with teams from education department discussed their annual action plan and budget proposals in detail.
The proposals prepared by these schools will be submitted online on the central portal after review as per the guidelines and norms of the scheme.
