CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu state board schools will reopen for classes VI to XII on June 1 after summer holidays, school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said on Friday.
Schools will reopen for classes I to V on June 5, the minister said after releasing the annual academic calendar for 2023-24.
The last working day for state board schools was on Friday.

He also said the textbooks had been printed and delivered to districts and efforts were on to deliver other items including school bags without any delay.
More than 50,000 students were absent for the Class XII examinations.
"At the meeting of CEOs and DEOs, we will discuss how to bring these children back to schools," he added. Officials said after the declaration of Class XII results, the school education department will conduct classes for those who failed and those who were absent.
Along with long list of absentees, students who flunked Class XI board exams also did not write the Class XII board exams.
"The members of school management committees (SMCs) and teachers will be engaged to bring absentees to the schools," officials said.
