Two Houston men have been sentenced to federal prison for the 2018 robbery of a Beaumont taqueria.

Robert Lewis Johnson, Jr., 31, and Bryant Demetri West, 24, on April 27 were sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for "brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence," according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Texas.

According to the release, the men on Dec 15, 2018 drove a stolen truck to Tacos La Bamba and entered the restaurant showing their handguns while wearing masks. They then forced the employees to the floor and took over $13,800 in cash from the restaurant before going back to Houston.

During the robbery, West shot off his gun in the restaurant around two of the employees, the release said.

The two men pleaded guilty in May 2022.
