New cases in Gurgaon below 300 for 2nd day in a row
Around 2,350 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours
GURGAON: The city continued to report less than 300 cases for the second day on a trot as 232 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded on Friday. The positivity rate was 9.8%. On Thursday, 253 cases were reported.
The city has 1,751 active cases and 20 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while the rest are in isolation at home. Moreover, the city recorded 353 recoveries. The health department officials said that 2,353 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
“Surge is unlikely now since the cases are dropping by the day. We, however, will continue to test people so that people who are Covid positive isolate themselves and further contain the spread. The public should however continue to follow the Covid protocol and wear masks whenever they go to crowded places,” said Virender Yadav, Gurgaon chief medical officer.
The city has added 8,677 cases so far in April as compared to 585 cases in March. The city added 46 new cases in February, 47 cases in January earlier this year, 67 in December last year, 210 in November, 709 in October and 1,356 in September last year.
Meanwhile, Haryana reported 748 new Covid-19 cases on Friday.
The highest number of cases were reported in Gurgaon (232) followed by Faridabad (87), Rohtak (51) and Panchkula (50). The total number of active cases in Haryana has increased to 3,940.
According to the health bulletin, the test positivity rate in Haryana is 8.7%. A total of 8,629 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Haryana. The state so far has reported 10,736 deaths and 10.7 lakh patients have been tested positive till date in Haryana.
