GURGAON: The proposed Global City will also have a “University of Excellence” which will attract foreign students apart from those from across the country, said deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala on Friday.
The Global City which will cover around 1,000 acres of land on Pataudi Road near Dwarka Expressway is expected to be a city within a city, developed on the theme of walk to work place. The norms have been set for the utility tunnel, road, sewerage, firefighting system and these works are expected to be completed before the launch of the project.
According to Chautala, Global City will write a new chapter of the state’s development on a global platform. He said the global city will excel in every aspect. “The layout of Global city will give people an impression as they have arrived in an international city like Dubai or Singapore. Many iconic buildings will also be built here on the lines of Dubai,” said Chautala.
Chautala on Friday reviewed the ongoing work for Global City and directed that a “University of Excellence” should also be established in this Global City. “Both national and international students will come here to take education,” he said.
Work on the ambitious Global City project is expected to start from July by developing civic amenities like roads, sewerage, drainage, utility tunnel and so on. HSIIDC has invited tender for development of essential services and civic amenities. The state government is expected to raise around Rs 1 lakh crore from sale of mixed land used plots to big companies.
Earlier, HSIIDC had prepared an estimate of Rs 758 crore which has now increased to Rs 931 crore for developing civic amenities and other services. According to the official master plan, the Global City project is ready and a tender process is underway for developing required civic infrastructure.
Unlike other parts of the city, the Global City will have a utility tunnel which will be used for electricity, telephone line and water supply and other underground services. The utility will have provision to lay underground services in future without digging the road. The Haryana government wants to develop the Global City Project as the central business district of Gurgaon. “City within city” with a focus on modern technology, low carbon green infrastructure and commercial and residential sectors. The project will be spread over 1080 acres of land in sector 36B, 37A and 37B along the under construction Dwarka Expressway.
It will be developed as a mixed land use project wherein companies can develop office space, residential housing and commercial complex at one place.
