Nagpur: The gang of Mohd Shahbaz alias Ghungroo, Mohd Zubel alias Zabir Haidri and others can be termed ‘silent’ due to their noiseless modus operandi which helped them break into houses in broad daylight.
The gang took around 15 to 20 minutes to complete the process from recce to fleeing with valuables, including breaking door locks and lockers.
SP Vishal Anand’s local crime branch of Nagpur rural recovered valuables, including 31 tolas gold worth around ₹19 lakh, after detecting 21 offences three of which were from Wardha district and one from Seoni in Madhya Pradesh.
The gang used to wrap a cloth or handkerchief around an iron rod which they used as a lever to insert it into the latch of doors and break them without making noise. Apart from Shahbaz and Zubel, the LCB had also arrested Salauddin Pathan and Yogesh Shreerang.
“Shreerang was involved in buying stolen valuables, especially gold, from the gang through Pathan,” said SP Anand who was flanked by additional SP Sandeep Pakhale, LCB incharge senior inspector Omprakash Kokate and others during a press conference at Police Bhavan on Friday.
