NOIDA: A brawl took place between students of Galgotias University in Greater Noida inside the campus on April 25. A video of the incident has also been doing the rounds on social media. The university administration has, so far, suspended five students involved in the act.
“We have found that an argument broke out between the first and second year students over entering the building lift and soon it turned into a scuffle,” said a senior officer at Dankaur police station.
The administration has summoned the guardians of the students involved in the clash.
“Some of the students involved in the skirmish have been suspended by the university administration. We have not received any complaints in this regard, but the administration is in touch with us and taking appropriate action,” added the police officer.
In the video that went viral on Friday, two or three groups of five-six youths can be seen aggressively beating up a few others while a large crowd watches on. Then, some of the youths who were being thrashed also get up to retaliate. Suddenly, the fight stops for reasons that are not clear in the video. But the groups disperse and move away from the corridor and the crowd also thins out.
A senior official of the university administration told TOI that they are taking strict action against the students involved in the act.
“We have so far suspended five students and action will be taken against others too. Guardians of the students have been called. An internal proctorial inquiry panel has been set up to probe the matter, and accordingly, action will be taken,” the official added.
