Ex-BJP MLA Jawahar Prasad arrested in Bihar’s Sasaram in connection with Ram Navami clashes
A bomb blast in Sasaram was also reported during the massive communal clash that stayed for nearly 3 days that left five people seriously injured.

Bihar Police on Saturday arrested the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Jawahar Prasad from his residence in Sasaram in connection with the Ram Navami clashes. The communal violence took place between two groups during the Ram Navami procession.
The brutal clashes erupted a day after Ram Navami Shobha Yatra, which saw two groups indulging in physical attacks in the state. The violence took place between Hindus and Muslims in different parts of Bihar including Sasaram, Nalanda and Bihar Sharif.
Reports state, police have so far arrested 65 people and have issued non-bailable warrants against 38 people. Authorities have also placed notices at the houses of the 12 people who are absconding after the violence. Police are also conducting a search operation to nab more accused.
For the unversed, a bomb blast in Sasaram was also reported during the massive communal clash that stayed for nearly 3 days that left five people seriously injured.
In addition, charring and looting happened, with authorities arresting numerous people in connection with unlawful acts. Following the clashes, authorities were forced to impose Section 144 because people resumed stone-pelting and vandalising public vehicles and roadside stalls. Several police officers were also injured during the violence.
Several incidents of violence were reported on Ram Navami in different states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. In West Bengal, police arrested more than hundreds of people in connection with the violence that erupted after Ram Navami’s procession.

MP woman commits suicide after husband stops her from visiting salon
The incident took place under Aerodrome police station limits in the city on Thursday.

A woman from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore hanged herself to death after her husband stopped her from going to the beauty parlour. The incident took place under Aerodrome police station limits in the city on Thursday.
The officials said the 34-year-old woman, identified as Reena Yadav, asked her husband to go to the salon on Thursday but he refused. Upset over this, the woman, a resident of the Scheme Number 51 area, hanged herself from the ceiling fan.
Her husband, identified as Balram Yadav, found her hanging from a fan when he returned from home. He immediately informed the police about the incident.
On reaching the spot, the police recorded the matter and sent the body to the district hospital for post-mortem examination. Sub Inspector Umashankar Yadav said post mortem has been carried out and the case is being probed from all angles.
In a similar incident, a Class 8 student died by suicide by jumping from the 16th floor of his building in Maharashtra’s Bhayander earlier this month, as he was upset over his short haircut.
The 13-year-old boy, Shatrughan Pathak, went to get a haircut with his cousin but when he came back home he looked upset as he was not happy with his short hair. Upset over this, Pathak jumped out of the window of her bathroom at around 11.30 pm after his family members went off to sleep.

Delhi L-G seeks report after BJP alleges irregularities in renovation of CM Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence

Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Vinai Kumar Saxena has sought a detailed report from the Chief Secretary after the BJP claimed irregularities during renovation work at the official residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
As per reports, L-G Saxena has asked the AAP government in Delhi to submit all records pertaining to the renovation work at CM Kejriwal’s 6, Flagstaff Road residence and directed the Chief Secretary to examine the said records and submit a report within 15 days.
The BJP had recently claimed that Arvind Kejriwal had spent Rs 45 crore from the public exchequer on the “beautification” of his official residence.
An official statement from the L-G’s office read: “Delhi L-G took cognisance of media reports (on alleged gross irregularities committed during the renovation of the Chief Minister’s residence) and keeping in view the sensitivity of the matter, directed the Chief Secretary to immediately secure and take all records relating to the matter into protective custody. Subsequently, after examination of records, a factual report on the matter be submitted within 15 days.”
Reports quoting sources in the Delhi government revealed tha the Chief Secretary has been directed by the L-G to gather all documents related to renovation at Kejriwal’s home on priority basis.
The sources, as per reports, said that in earlier cases, including the excise policy case, some files allegedly went missing while the evidence was also purportedly wiped out. As such, the Chief Secretary will probe the role of Public Works Deparment (PWD) officials and even some ministers who authorized the renovation work.
They said that the Chief Secretary will also probe if any financial rules were changed or circumvented to facilitate permissions for renovation and if so, who were responsible for those acts. Based on these, the Chief Secretary will submit a report to the L-G within 15 days.
An India Today report citing documents obtained from sources claimed that the said papers mentioned that a total of Rs 44.78 crores against a sanctioned amount of Rs 43.70 crores was spent on “addition/alternation” of Arvind Kejriwal’s government accommodation on 6, Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines.
It said the said amount was spent in six trenches between September 9, 2020 to June, 2022.
Citing the documents, the report claimed that the expenditure included Rs 11.30 crores on interior decoration, Rs 6.02 crores on stone and marble flooring, Rs one crore on interior consultancy, Rs 2.58 crores on electrical fittings and appliances, Rs 2.85 crores on fire fighting system, Rs 1.41 crores on wardrobe and accessories fitting, and Rs 1.1 crore on kitchen appliances.
The documents further revealed that Rs Rs 8.11 crores out of the sanctioned Rs 9.99 crores was spent on the Chief Minister’s camp office at his official residence.

Churachandpur violence: Fresh clashes as rioters torch Manipur CM’s event site, internet ban imposed for 5 more days

The ban on internet services in Manipur’s violence-hit Churachandpur was extended to five more days while prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC remain in force after fresh clashes erupted between protesters and police forces on Friday after the rioters torched an event site where Chief Minister N Biren Singh was scheduled to aqdress a meeting earlier in the day.
As per reports, security personnel baton-charged the protesters and also fired tear smoke shells and rubber bullets to disperse the them as clashes amid a shutdown called by Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) against the government’s decision to evict Kuki villagers from protected forests in the tribal-dominated Churachandpur district.
Following the clashes prohibitory orders were clamped in the Churachandpur district and internet services snapped.
An order issued by the Manipur Home department said: To prevent any disturbance to the peace and order the suspension of mobile internet services shall be in force for the next five days with immediate effect in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts.”
Some reports have claimed that several protesters were killed and injured in police action, however, no official confirmation has come out yet.
On Friday, protesters clashed with the police at Sadbhavna Mandap in New Lamka in the district where CM N Biren Singh was scheduled to address a public meeting. However, the event was called off following the shutdown call and the protests.
Earlier in the day, clashes erupted between demonstrators and police at Sadbhavna Mandap in New Lamka in Churachandpur district, the venue where Chief Minister N Biren Singh was scheduled to address a public meeting.
Reports quoting police sources said the demonstrators hurled stones at forces’ personnel who responded with tear gas shelling and rubber bullet and baton charges in New Lamka, Tuibong Bazaar, Sielmat bridge, Lanva bridge and T Champhai areas, among others.
CM Biren Singh was scheduled to throw open an open gym at PT Sports complex and address a public meeting in New Lamka town, however, a large mob stormed the event spot on Thursday and set ablaze around 100 chairs and other items.
Following the incident the local MLA, who had invited the chief minister, postponed the event.
Talking to reporters, the chief minister lashed out at the ITLF for the bandh call and questioned thier the “indigenousness”…. “What indigenous people? We are indigenous people. Nagas are indigenous people. Kukis are indigenous people. What indigenous tribal?”
