BJP-SS will win over 200 assembly, 48 LS seats in 2024, says Bawankule
Nagpur: BJP Maharashtra president Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Friday expressed confidence that his party in an alliance with Shiv Sena led by chief minister Ekanth Shinde would win at least 200 assembly and all 48 Lok Sabha seats in the 2024 polls.
Speaking to the media at his residence in Koradi, Bawankule said former CM Uddhav Thackeray has been in a “confused state of mind” ever since losing power in June last year. “It was him, who had sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to shift the refinery from Nanar to Barsu. He had also done a follow-up of the project. His MLA from the region is also supporting the project. Now, he has taken a U-turn and is opposing the project after being in the opposition. We must listen to public voices but playing politics on the subject is not proper. People’s benefit is more important. If they are explained properly about the benefits, they would not oppose it.”
Accusing Thackeray led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of being responsible for many mega projects like Vedanta-Foxconn and Tata-Airbus migrating to other states, the BJP chief said they (MVA) had failed to take a follow-up during their tenure of two and a half years. “His case is like 'Sau chuhe khake billi chali haj ko’. Sending workers to Barsu to create disturbance is dirty politics.”
On apprehension expressed by agriculture minister Abdul Sattar whether he would remain a minister or not, Bawankule ruled out any threat to the BJP-Shiv Sena government. “We are 164 today in a house of 288. We have already started preparation for 2024 assembly and general elections. We are working as government and strengthening the party at the grassroots level. We will give a government and leadership which people expect. The MVA has no chance till 2029 in both polls.”
