A Beaumont man has been indicted after he caused injury to his 1-year-old child.
The 21-year-old was indicted on April 5 by a Jefferson County Grand Jury for injury of a child.
The man assaulted the child's mother on Dec. 18, 2022, before she picked up the child, hoping it would keep the man from hurting her again, according to court documents.
He then pushed her to the floor, causing the woman to drop the child and a piece of furniture to hit the baby on the head, according to a warrant request from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies arrived in the 10100 block of Texas 105, they saw bite marks and redness on the child's back, from other apparent abuse by the father, the document said.
The mother and child were both taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
