Bhiwandi Building Collapse Live Updates: Two-and-half-year-old boy rescued from debris, more than 20 people still trapped

Around 10 people were trapped under debris after ground-plus-two-storied building collapsed in Bhiwandi on Saturday afternoon.

A truck carrying scrap material was gutted after it caught fire in Bhiwandi taluka of Maharashtra's Thane district, a civic official said on Saturday.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Friday slammed the Shinde-Fadnavis government over the alleged forceful survey of lands for the proposed refinery in Maharashtra's Barsu saying that this was being done on the orders of the 'Mughals in Delhi'. Raut said that deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis who is also the state’s home minister had left for Mauritius and ordered the survey by force.

Enraged that his daughter was to marry out of the community and then, on finding out that his name was not on her wedding invitation card, a 79-year-old man from Andheri (west) allegedly attacked the bride-to-be on Thursday, just three days prior to her wedding ceremony scheduled for Sunday.

On a day a large group of women protesters attempted to storm the soil testing site for a proposed oil refinery project in Barsu village of Rajapur taluka on Friday afternoon, authorities were able to hold them back since they had kept themselves prepared for such an eventuality. A force of nearly 1,800 police personnel, a majority of them women, had been deployed at the site by the Ratnagiri police.

Four youths have been arrested for raping a 15-year-old girl in Kalyan. Sahil Rajbhar, the key accused, asked the girl to meet him to clear a misunderstanding he had had with his girlfriend, the police said.

Police have prohibited all flying activities in the jurisdiction of Mahim Police Station, Shivaji Park Police Station, Dadar Police Station, and Worli Police Station on May 1 on account of the Maharashtra Day celebrations at Shivaji Park.
