Siddaramanahundi accident takes a political turn
Mysuru: A road accident at Siddaramanahundi, hometown of former CM Siddaramaiah, has taken a political hue, late on Thursday. While BJP workers claimed that Congress workers attacked a motorist, police said it was an accident. Police said they got a complaint, and an FIR will be registered after taking permission of the court.
Around 7pm on Wednesday, BJP candidate V Somanna along with Mysuru MP Pratap Simha were campaigning in Siddaramanahundi under heavy police security. At that time, a car driven by K Nagesh, 26, a resident of Keelanapura, allegedly touched a Congress worker near the village which resulted in a tussle. Nagesh’s relatives accused Congress workers of attacking him. Nagesh has been brought to a private hospital in Mysuru for treatment.
Police said there was tight security in the village at the time of campaign, and this incident is not related to it.
Superintendent of police Seema Latkar told TOI that Nagesh’s father has lodged a complaint against Ravi, accusing him of assaulting his son following a road accident. Nagesh was on his way to the campaign when his car touched Ravi, leading to a quarrel between them. Immediately the duo was detained by the police near the spot. “We have treated the complaint as a non-cognisable offence,” the SP said.
