Vadodara: City police arrested a man on Thursday for damaging about 50 banners and posters that were installed in different areas of the city. The accused identified as Hasmukh Patel was seen tearing big banners of political or government programmes on CCTV footage.
The manager of the firm that had installed the banners and billboards filed a complaint against Patel at the Raopura police station. According to the complainant, about 10 days ago he noticed that someone had pasted yellow advertisement stickers on the banners that his firm had installed in the city.
When the complainant called on the number, accused received the call following which the complainant asked him why he was pasting his commercial stickers on the banners.
Patel told the complainant that he will keep pasting his stickers on the banners and also threatened against removing the stickers.
The complainant got all the stickers removed from the banners. But late on Wednesday, Patel tore up the big hoardings with photos of PM Narendra Modi and Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel that were installed in Akota, Dandia Bazaar and Sayajigunj. His act was caught on CCTVs installed in these areas. The complainant said that Patel’s act cost them a loss of Rs 50,000.
