Jaisalmer: The Oran gochar sanrakshan samiti (committee for conservation of pasture lands) on Thursday held a presser here to speak about the aarti programme it is organising on May 5 at the sacred site of Bhadaria in Jaisalmer.
The aarti programme is meant to highlight the need to protect pasture lands from encroachment and setting up of electricity-generating units, such as windmills and solar plants, said the committee’s patron and Jodhpur chief Jugat Singh Karnot.
He said the programme will be attended by religious leaders, environmentalists, and people from hundreds of villages. The aarti will be performed with 101 lamps and villagers will be urged to not register
common pasture lands in the revenue record, which turns them into private property, Karnot said. TNN
