He freely acknowledged SS Rajamouli for creating the ground-breaking film Baahubali, which broke through racial and linguistic barriers and raised the bar for south Indian cinema. Mani Ratnam began PS 1 & PS 2 after watching Rajamouli's Baahubali.

Mani Ratnam, a brilliant and unconventional filmmaker, was unable to duplicate the magic rajamouli produced in indian cinema. However, compared to the fictional Baahubali saga, the story of ponniyin selvan is more bigger and more important. However, despite having a fantastic cast, mani ratnam nonetheless unable to successfully adapt this epic for the film.

What's missing is the hype since PS 2 is poised to hit theatres in a few days. While rrr and Baahuabli fever swept the country before to their releases. While PS 2 has a positive buzz in Tamil, telugu and other languages haven't given it the desired frenzy. Comparing the PS2 trailer to rrr and Baahubali 2, it fell short.

In reality, Baahubali by rajamouli served as an inspiration for more than only Mani Ratnam. Rudhramadevi and Shaakuntalam by gunasekhar were also scaled and raised higher in light of Rajamouli's movie. Shankar's 2.0 was also influenced by Rajamouli's improvements to the markets. Currently, shankar is concentrating on the films indian 2 and Gamechanger, starring kamal haasan and ram Charan.
