Gunman opens fire on vehicle at busy Rochester intersection, 3 shot

Three people were shot at a busy intersection in Rochester Thursday evening, according to Rochester police.

Capt. Adam Radens of the Rochester Police Department said that someone fired into a vehicle stopped at a red light at Lake Avenue and West Ridge Road in Rochester just before 5:40 p.m. Three of the five people inside the stopped vehicle were shot at least once in the upper body - a 21-year-old woman, and two 18-year-old men, all Rochester residents, he said.

Two of the shootings victims were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance and the third was taken to Rochester General Hospital by private vehicle. All three suffered injuries that were not considered life threatening, Radens said.

No charges have been filed in connection with the incident. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting to call 911.
