NOIDA: Three men were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly forging documents and appearing for another candidate in a staff recruitment exam of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). This exam was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). One of the candidates, whom the men were impersonating, was also nabbed.
Those arrested are Amit from Shamli, a dummy candidate for Mohommad Farman, and Deepak from Panipat, a dummy candidate for Mahesh. They were nabbed from the Sector 64 test centre. Mahesh from Sonipat was also caught on Thursday. "The invigilator became suspicious when Amit and Deepak failed the biometric test. He alerted officials who, in turn, informed police. During initial probe, we found that the deal for the JNU exam was fixed at Rs 2 lakh per candidate," said Amit Pratap Singh, ACP (Noida).
The investigation also showed Amit had been involved in similar scams in the past, for which he was sent to jail. "Earlier, he sat as a dummy candidate in the government exams in Rajasthan," the ACP said.
All the arrested persons have been booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 419 (whoever cheats by personation), 467, 468, 471 (forgery) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy). "We have formed teams to nab Farman, who is absconding," the police officer told TOI.
