Surat: Health department teams of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) checked and collected samples at outlets selling mango juice in the city on Thursday. The teams collected samples and sent them for testing in the laboratory.
The testing results will be declared within 14 days. Based on the results, further action will be taken against the juice sellers. With the start of summer, many shops start selling mango juice. Health officials conduct testing to check selling of any unhealthy food product.
“The mango juice samples will be tested for use of colour, flavour or artificial essence. The tests can verify if the mixture of any other fruit is used,” said a health official.
“The teams also examined cleanliness at the spot where the juice was being made or sold. No material has been seized,” the official added.
Recently, the health officials had conducted checking at mango sellers to identify if artificial ripening agents were being used.
